Affirmative Prayer
When most people think of prayer, they think of asking God for something. Unity prayer is different. Affirmative prayer is empowering prayer. In Unity, prayer is affirmative rather than supplicatory.
Unity cofounder Charles Fillmore taught:
Prayer is more than supplication. It is an affirmation of Truth that eternally exists, but which has not yet come into consciousness. It comes into consciousness not by supplication but by affirmation.—The Revealing Word
We recognize that wholeness, abundance, and harmony are examples of ways we can describe the power of God. That power, we realize in prayer, is the power within us as well as around us. In prayer, we begin to see that we are therefore not powerless; in fact, we are powerfully able to cooperate with the ideal of wholeness, abundance, and harmony.
Myrtle Fillmore, whose practice of prayer led to the Unity methods, said:

An Affirmative Prayer for Three Kings’ Day
In this sacred moment, we pause and recognize the One Presence, the One Power, the Divine Life moving in and through all creation. We acknowledge the living Christ light born within humanity—steady, luminous, and undiminished by the noise of the world.
We recognize that wisdom is rising within us now. Even amid uncertainty, fear, and shifting structures, the inward star of Divine guidance shines clearly. We affirm that intuition, grounded in Love, leads us safely and surely.
We accept the gifts that Divine wisdom brings forth in us.
We claim gold as the remembrance of true value—spiritual substance, integrity of will, and power aligned with Divine order. We affirm the right use of power in our lives and in our world: power that blesses, heals, and builds Wholeness.
We welcome frankincense as illumined understanding. Our thoughts are refined, lifted, and clarified. Wisdom and discernment guide our choices. We see beyond fear-based narratives and perceive Truth with calm, ethical intelligence.
We receive myrrh as the eternal Life of Spirit and the healing power of Love. Our hearts are open, courageous, and compassionate. We trust Life itself, knowing that even as forms change, Divine Love remains constant and whole.
We affirm that humanity is awakening. Consciousness is rising. Courage gives way to understanding, and understanding blossoms into embodied Love. The Christ presence within humanity is active, alive, and expressing now.
With gratitude, we release this prayer into the Law, trusting that what is spoken in Truth is already fulfilled. We rest in faith, grounded in peace, and ready to live the light we celebrate.
And so it is. ✨
